Success Story Submission Instructions

Generating a Success Story

A candidate SBIR/STTR success story may be self-initiated by the Small Business, provided directly by the Air Force Technical Point of Contact (TPOC), submitted by the respective SBIR/STTR Program Manager, or initiated by another Air Force or Department of Defense office (e.g., system program office). After the story has been reviewed, it will be posted to the Air Force SBIR/STTR web site and possibly used in selected presentations, brochures, videos, program handouts and briefings. These stories also make for excellent company marketing material.

We will coordinate the completion of the success story with the TPOC and the company. If you have any questions concerning the procedures, please contact info@afsbirsttr.com.

Success Story Categories and Criteria

Innovation Story

The criteria include SBIR/STTR projects that have successfully met Air Force SBIR/STTR technology program requirements in Phase II. However, completed Phase I projects with “clearly outstanding potential for Air Force-DoD,” as determined by the TPOC, can also be included. Moreover, projects that meet unique laboratory requirements serving Air Force test ranges and facilities, depot floor process/procedure and/or maintenance capabilities are eligible as well.

Transition Story

The criteria include SBIR/STTR technology that has transitioned into an Air Force system or subsystem, or technology originally developed through an Air Force SBIR/STTR project that has transitioned into another Department of Defense agency system or subsystem. (Note: “Transitioned” means “currently used” in an operational system/subsystem.)

How to Submit a Story

First, select the most appropriate story criteria. Then, review examples of success stories already posted within the SBIR/STTR web site’s Publications to get a good understanding of how these short stories are written. Lastly, use the electronic form or blank story form to submit your story draft.
